Excerpt from Ha’ven’s Song

Ha’ven Ha’darra is the Crown Prince for the Curizans, an advanced species known for their technology. They may not have the power to shift like the Valdier or the Sarafin but they have hidden powers of their own that they guard. Not even his best friends, Creon Reykill of the Valdier or Vox d’Rojah of the Sarafin, are aware of the powers he holds within his deadly frame.

Ha’ven is happy to help out his Valdier friend when he calls. There are only two things that satisfy the restlessness inside him – a good fight and an even better evening with a hot, willing female. He has no desire to settle down like his two friends have. He enjoys having his freedom and the wide sample of females at his disposal.

All of that changes when he catches a glimpse of the delicate beauty who looks through him as if he doesn’t even exist. His blood calls to her, his magic aches to meld with hers, but she blocks his every advance.

Emma Watson’s life was perfect. Her love for music and dance let her escape the overwhelming shyness that she suffered from all her life. When she is invited to travel with a group to promote music and dance for children in South America, she believes it is the perfect chance to discover who she can really be. Everything changes when she is kidnapped by a powerful drug lord. Beaten and forced to watch the torture of other women, she withdrawals into the world she feels safest – the one inside herself.

When she is rescued by creatures not of this world, they heal her physical wounds but cannot touch the ones deep inside her. She has given up on ever returning to her world and has little hope for the future. That is why she does not understand why one aggravating male suddenly won’t leave her alone. She wants nothing to do with men! They cause nothing but heartache and pain. She had been on the receiving end of their fists to know that! Why would she want one that could crush her with one hand?

No woman has ever turned Ha’ven Ha’darra down and he isn’t about to accept his mate doing it. He will show her that not all men are the same, even if he has to kidnap her and take her to his world to do it. He plans to show her the power she has hidden deep inside her and open her heart to the love he has in his.

Now, he just has a few extra problems to overcome. Her Valdier protectors have given him six months to change her mind about wanting to return to them, a traitor is trying to kill them both, and they have crashed on a remote moon.

Can he unlock her magic in time to save their love or will the traitor, determined to kill them, destroy her before he can?

  • Coury says:

I beg of you all powerful author who loves to take my money 😁😎……..Need MORE.

    • S.E. Smith says:

LOL. Hi Coury, I’m writing! I’ll be writing Adalard’s story next once I finish with Nali and Asahi’s!

  • Sandy says:

I also can’t wait for The Dark Prince’s Prize. After reading the last threads, I am relieved that I was not going crazy and could not find this book. Sorry to hear about your health issues. Am looking forward to finally reading Book 2 in this series. You are an awesome world builder and storyteller!

    • S.E. Smith says:

Hi Sandy, thank you! Yes, it was a rough year and a half, but I’m getting back on track. I’m finishing up a series that I promised then I’ll be back to Adalard.

  • Erin B. says:

Any word yet on when you might release Bahadur and Toni’s story? Bahadur has become one of those characters (for me) that has captured and maintained my interest throughout the different books. There is just something about him that has stayed with me where other characters just fade away. Just the kind of mischief, humor, and alpha male tendencies Bahadur embodies alone deserves a book all it’s own. If you could sneak his story into your 2020 line up I would be ever so grateful. No pressure, right?😉

    • S.E. Smith says:

LOL. Hi Erin, Yes, I know exactly what you mean. He, Trig, Gant, and a few others get under my skin and they end up screaming for their stories to be told! I promise to do my best. I will tell you that he will be in Adalard’s story which is two books out!

  • Amy Keith says:

Any update on Dark Prince’s Prize? It was due in 2019, but didn’t make it. Just wondering if there’s a new expected date?

  • Muriel says:

j’adore vos livres.

  • Carmen says:

Hi has toni and bahadur book been written yet

  • Jayne says:

Susan, thank you for your dedication and consistent effort to keep us entertained. I like all your other readers have read and re-read your stories and try to wait patiently for the next story in line. Take care of yourself and thank you for the little extra insight to the dragonlings growing up – Jabirs gift was great. Jayne

    • S.E. Smith says:

Thank you, Jayne. I try hard to make each story special and unique. I hate that I’ve fallen behind, but life sometimes has its own plans. I plan to bring many more stories to life!

  • mary says:

you always say soon but they never seem to come out. for example saving runt, dark princes prize and cores attack, esp. in audio. other books are mentioned are mentioned all the time that you are working on. Actual date would be nice.

    • admin says:

Hi Mary, Susan is expecting Saving Runt to release in April 2019. Unfortunately, Susan’s health does not always allow her to write consistently and for as long each as she used to in previous years but she is doing the best she can to get the stories out to you. Cheers Narelle

  • Kathleen Baldwin says:

Can’t wait for the Dark Princes Prize! Love all the stories about the dragon shifters, the cat shifters and the energy weilding curizan. Love reading about the dragonlings and friends having adventures and their parents. Have all of those series, just keep re reading them.

  • Anna Pessamato says:

I also have read almost every series and LOVE them. However I am unable to find the Dark Prince’s prize. Also the dragonlings day at the beach. I love to hear the trouble they cause and to see how their parents handle their escapades.

  • Nancy Murray says:

When will Rorrak’s Revenge be out. Can’t wait!!!

  • Jo Menger says:

When will the Dark Prince’s Prize be out?

  • Ashley coonfield says:

When is the Dark Prince’s Prize going to be released?

    • S.E. Smith says:

      • Kelly says:

[* Shield plugin marked this comment as “trash”. Reason: Failed GASP Bot Filter Test (checkbox) *]
lt’s February 2018. Has the bonfire turned into a forest fire yet? Your fans are anxiously awaiting for the story to continue…

  • Rachael says:

When is the next story coming out in this series??? Can’t wait to read it. Saw that it should be out this year after Jaguins story…. his is out lol. And the year is almost over. Just wondering lol. Love your books!!!

    • S.E. Smith says:

LOL. Hi Rachael. I’m finishing up a couple of stories I had already started, then Adalard and Samara’s story is coming up. It will be out this year! 🙂

  • Connie says:

At the end of Haven’s Song it said the next Curizan story would be Adelard’s (The Dark Prince’s Prize). While I have been anxious in reading his story ever since Haven’s Song came out, I am also very interested in reading Bahadur’s, particularly after his small scenes in Ariel’s book. Do you have any idea when these two will be coming out?

Also will you be writing any more Heaven Sent books?

Maybe you should look into cloning yourself so you can put out the stories faster. 😉

    Thanks, Connie

    • S.E. Smith says:

LOL. Hi Connie. I tried sitting on the copier and that well… You can imagine how well that worked. 😛 Yes, there will be more. Yes, Bahadur will get his story. Yes, there will be more in the Heaven Sent series. I do know that the Dark Prince’s Prize will be out this year as it is the next story I will be writing after Jaguin’s Love.

  • Cat says:

Havens song, when will this be out on audio

    • S.E. Smith says:

Hi Cat. Yes, it is in production right now! 🙂

      • Jackie says:

Will it be David Brenin? You really lucked out with that guy!

Just finished Choosing Riley, one of my new favorites after Dragon Twins. Great job!

        • S.E. Smith says:

Thank you, Jackie! Yes, I did luck out with David, didn’t I? 🙂 Ha’ven’s is going to actually be narrated by David’s mentor and friend. I have poor David working on a dozen more books and I know Ha’ven’s Song is in great hands with the PJ.

  • Amber Schoener says:

I love all the books I have read, My kindle never leaves my hand these days lol. I just re-read Ha’ven’s story for like the 4th time and I just looked at the date and its 2016….Where is his brothers story!?!?! I need my crack of S.E. Smith!

    • S.E. Smith says:

LOL. Hi Amber. The Dark Prince’s Prize will be my next book to release after Jaguin’s Love. It won’t be much longer! 🙂

  • heather says:

hello i just recently found abducting abby loved and got the rest i was laghing so hard my mom started reading them. great storys!!!!!!!! thank you!

    • S.E. Smith says:

Hi Heather! Thank you! All of my stories have that thread of humor in them, some more than others, but there is always laughter. Tell your mom I said hello! 🙂

      • Madeline Sciammarella says:

I love all the story, they are great. I Hope all of them have audiobook. I am Dominican, and English is not my first language, and I just started college in NY, but I found out that most of ESL student only buy book that have the audiobook, because they will learn more like that. In college the teacher recommend to learn stories with audio, but everyone like the sexy ones like the stories in your books. I hope in the future all you books have audiobook too. I have read all of the one with audiobook, and I just started the ones only in kindle version. Great Job!!!

        • S.E. Smith says:

Hola Madeline. Thank you so much for you lovely post! I know exactly what you mean! I remember when I was taking Spanish in college that our professor had on a Spanish soap opera for us to watch. I am slowly having all of my books narrated. Choosing Riley has just been completed and River’s Run is almost done. I have more in progress! I think listening to the stories does help, especially if you can read them and hear them. Congratulations on your college entrance! It is a fun and exciting time. Just a hint, the first two years are the hardest as you are getting your prerequisites out of the way. After that, it is easier as you are focusing on what you want to learn about. Xoxox

  • Kimber says:

Cudos to your fantastic world building! Thank you very much for the hours upon hours of enjoyment you provide. I am anxiously awaiting the expanding of the Curizan line of stories and Ha’ven’s brother’s story as the last contact to the Dragon Lords at the end of Ha’ven’s story has continued to nip at my mind as to the fun that is to come! Please tell me that you have some stories coming out this year in the form of the Curizan Warriors line. I have totally enjoyed everything you have written so far and I am hard pressed to “pick” a favorite world as they all seem to have their own appeal and flair that keeps the reader looking for more!
    Much appreciated and always enjoyed
    Kimber Allday

    • S.E. Smith says:

Hi Kimber! Thank you for your lovely post. Yes, there are more planned. I have Jaguin’s Love coming out, then The Dark Prince’s Prize which will be Adalard’s story. I’m really looking forward to his and Samara’s story. There is sure to be loads of laughter and adventure involved.

  • Romy says:

I have bought and re-re-read almost all your books (only 5 that I’ve yet to buy), I even read your short stories, and all your audiobooks. I saw that the Sarafin audiobooks are coming soon but I was wondering if Ha’ven’s book gonna come out to. Also if The Lords of Kasis are coming out to. That way I can look around me and my beautiful but annoying children can stop complaining that I don’t pay enough attention to them. Opps my bad LOL

    • S.E. Smith says:

LOL. I have four kids, so I totally get where drifting off to another world can save their growing to another year older. Ha’ven’s Song is currently with the narrator and in pre-production. I will eventually (hopefully by the end of next year) have all the books into audio. Thank you so much for sharing this! It is wonderful to know that you are enjoying the stories as much as I do. 🙂 Good luck with the complaining! I found I used to get one week of peace a month.

  • Lori Howe says:

At the end of Ha-ven’s Song you inferred there would be another called The Princes Prize. I know you have been very busy but I have heard nothing more on this book. When will it be coming out?

    • admin says:

Hi Lori. I’m writing one book ahead of it and then The Dark Prince’s Prize. The book ahead of it has been driving me crazy for about five years and I’m finally going to write it. Adalard and Samara’s story will be coming up shortly! 🙂

  • Rowenia says:

Hey this is Rena, I am waiting for the next book that your writing….I LOVE MY BOOKS THAT YOU WRITE.!

  • Pam says:

I was fortunate enough to start reading with Abducting Abby. I was drawn in by the synopsis and cover art of the book. I was hooked after only 30 minutes of reading and paused to buy the rest of the series. I couldn’t put them down! The best part is knowing that there will be more to read as you have so many possible character directions to go to. Thank you. You tell a great story and I’m looking forward to the next one.

    • admin says:

I’m really thrilled you have enjoyed The Dragon Lords series. I wonder if Abby and Zoran knew what they were letting loose when they met. lol. There are certainly more characters’ stories to come in all my series and I hope you enjoy them.

    • Donald Davis says:

my favorite is capturing cara and choosing riley but you have got to read cosmoses gateway series i never laughed so hard in my life.
in book 2 when the father tries to get the son to bring back tinks mom lol and kudos to the author

      • S.E. Smith says:

Thank you so much Donald! You have definitely made my morning! Yes, there will be more in the Cosmos’ Gateway series. Core’s Attack will be the next book out.

  • Rowenia says:

    Hey Hi,
Can and will you please let me know when the second book of the Curizon Warriors, is out. I Love the Dragon Lords stories. I have all of them please I want to have Curizon Warriors, too. Also the. Saracens Warriors. Please.
    Thank- You

    • admin says:

      Hi Rowenia,
I will be writing the second book in the Sarafin Warriors next! Viper’s Mate is the story of Tina and Viper. Of course, when Viper goes back, he has to bring Grandma Pearl! Shotgun and all. Look for a late May release!

  • Susan L. says:

I just love your books. I started with Abby’s story. It was a free book on amazon and this is the best way for me to try new authors. I have bought all your books that have become available since. They are all great on their own, but, the storyline is helpful when you read the other books too. I like books like yours that are entertaining and funny. I have to say that I was disappointed that there was no dragonlings Christmas story. After reading the Dragonlings Easter and Dragonlings Halloween, I was looking forward to the Dragonlings Christmas. Can I look forward to it next Christmas? Thanks

    • S.E. Smith says:

I’ll be doing a Christmas in July release. This Christmas I was in the middle of writing it, but this Christmas was very special… I became a Nana for the second time. Too much excitement to handle. Then, I ended up getting sick and losing almost a week. Did I mention I’m a grouch when I have a bad cold? LOL. I’m sorry to disappoint you, it wasn’t intentional! 🙂

  • April says:

Thank you so much for the your quick response. No sooner had I sent you the question I found the link. I so enjoyed the book. I wish I could just buy all of them at once. I swear I could spend a fortune on books. Especially when they are so good. Looking forward to more of yours. Thank you.

  • Debbie says:

Thanks for the info. I will have to re-read that one.

  • Debbie says:

I have a question about Ha’ven’s Song: Curizan Warriors Book 1. Is there a book from one of your other series that tells about the kidnapping and rescue? I feel like I’m starting in the middle of the story without knowing who Sara & Emma are and the story of their kidnapping and rescue.

I’ve read several the first 4 or 5 of Dragon Lords of Valdier and Cosmos Gate series plus Gracie’s Touch books and Choosing Riley. I’ve enjoyed them all greatly.

Thanks for any info you can provide!

    • S.E. Smith says:

Hi Debbie, yes. I went into some detail so you wouldn’t have to read any other books, but to really enjoy it you should read Cornering Carmen: Dragon Lords of Valdier Book 5. The Dragon Lords, Curizan, Sarafin, and Marastin Dow are all part of the same star system so the characters will weave in and out of each of the series. If you haven’t picked it up, A Warrior’s Heart: Marastin Dow Warriors Book 1.1 is available for free on Amazon, Smashwords, and soon to the other sites once they pick it up. The characters in that story were also first introduced in Carmen’s story, but it can also be read as a stand-alone.

  • Nuria says:

I’m a fan. I started with Dragon Lords of Valdier. Actually I found Ha’ven’s Story first. I usually look if the book is part of a series or not before I read. Thank god I did! I read DLoV. I loved the first five stories. One thing I’ve always disliked is when The stories of all characters are beong told at the same time. For example, I knew what was going on with another character before it happened. Made me rush through the current book to see what happened to the other characters. I didn’t finish Paul’s and Morian’s Story. I only bought it because it was part of the series but it never caught my interest. Vox’s & Riley’s story was the best. I just re-read for the second time and had me LMAO again. BTW, I need to get me a leatherman. I’m about to re-read Ha’ven’s story again… :-).. I want more!. Viper’s story, Ha’ven’s brothers stories.

I’m also reading The Alliance series & Cosmo’s Gateways series. Waiting on the next book for those too. 🙂

    • S.E. Smith says:

Hi Nuria, my stories follow in the pattern of life to make them more believable (and because that is the way the characters tell me they need to be told). LOL. Sometimes stories can be told in series, but other times things run in parallel where the timelines of different stories cross paths. Such was the case for Emma in Ha’ven’s Song. Sometimes it can’t be avoided. If I didn’t do that, it would make the stories awkward and difficult to follow. I also love how each person has a different point of view and brings in their own life experiences into the story. This influences who they are and how they handle/interact with the other characters. I think you would enjoy Paul and Morian’s story. It is actually very different from the others. I love how his mind works and how he not only accepts Morian’s desire to be who she is, but accepts her and embraces her for it. Merrick’s Maiden is scheduled for release on 12/30/14. Risteard’s Unwilling Empress will be the next story after this one.

  • April says:

Like some of your other readers I started with Vox’s story. I never laughed so hard. Now I have been reading the rest. Starting on Ha’ven’s story. Thank you for all the great laughs. Please keep them coming. I love the universe that you have made and I love sll the characters. Thank you.

    • S.E. Smith says:

Thank you, April! It means a lot to know others are enjoying the stories as much as I do. I loved Riley and she really was the perfect match for Vox! LOL. He needed someone like her to add the spice to his life.

  • Lynda says:

I am so thoroughly enjoying your books. I was fortunate enough to read Vox’s story first and that started me on this amazing journey into your world. I just finished Paul’s and Morian’s story and feel I should read Ha’ven’s before I read the twins story. I think that will make more sense, but not sure. But either way, I am really enjoying your stories and hopefully you will write many more in these series.

    Thanks, Lynda

    • S.E. Smith says:

I would read Ha’ven’s story first. You could, as you mentioned, read either one first, but you’ll understand a bit more if you read Ha’ven and Emma’s story (which is wonderful). I loved Paul! Talk about hot flashes!!!! The ending where he was standing out on the balcony??? Whew! Okay… LOL. Back to writing.

  • Angie says:

I am in the process of reading the Dragon Lords of Valdier which I am thoroughly enjoying. I would love to read this series as well as Vox’s story in the order of which the three stories take place chronologically. Is that possible and where would I find the order. Thanks

  • kim says:

Waiting with anticipation for Ha’vens brothers story.
