Excerpt from River’s Run

River Knight was looking forward to a peaceful vacation in the mountains with her two best friends, Jo and Star, sisters of the heart. When she travels up into the mountains of North Carolina to the cabin Star has rented for them she is shocked when she finds the two sisters being abducted. Following them, she discovers their abductors are anything but human.

Sneaking aboard the shuttle in an attempt to rescue them she finds herself on an unplanned vacation to the stars. In a desperate attempt to save Jo and Star, River makes a deal with a group of other aliens who had also been captured – she’ll release them if they promise to return the three girls to their home.

Torak Ja Kel Coradon, Leader of the House of Kassis and next ruler of the Kassis Galaxy, has other plans when he sees the blue-eyed warrior woman. He plans on claiming her for himself and the only home he has plans on her returning too is his.

The three women are believed to be the Prophesized warriors sent to join forces to bring peace to the House of Kassis. Worlds collide when the male dominated world meets three circus performers who use their talents to fight for those they love.

When an assassin threatens Torak’s life, River has to show him even a circus performer can be a warrior when challenged. The biggest challenge is to Torak’s mind as he discovers women from other galaxies are more than they seem.

Can their love overcome the chasm of a few million light years or will an assassin end it all?

Excerpt from Star’s Storm

Star Strauss has always been a fighter. From the time she was born prematurely to her life on the road as a circus performer. She has never let her small stature keep her from achieving her dreams. She is one of the best aerial performers in the world. Her love of being up high and flying free has helped her overcome the challenges she faces when she is on the ground. Only her circus family, her sister, and her best friend have ever really understood her need for freedom. Her life changes when she finds herself on a distant world where every creature seems to tower over her.

Jazin Ja Kel Coradon is the third son of the ruling House of Kassis. He is known not only for his skills as a fierce warrior but for his knowledge of communication, security, and weapons systems. This knowledge has increased the effectiveness of the Kassis defenses protecting their world from attack from a new group of rebels who threaten their very existence. He will fight until his last breath to protect his people.

His life changes when he meets a tiny creature who is unlike anything he has ever seen. She is tiny, delicate, and beautiful. The problem is she is also the strongest, most stubborn female he has ever met. She refuses to do what he tells her, she defies him at every turn, and doesn’t seem to understand that all he wants to do is protect her. If he could just get her to stay in the nice safe bubble he has created for her, his life would be so much simpler!

Jo’s Journey excerpt

Jo Strauss was committed to two things in her life – her family and her life as an acrobat/high-wire performer. She takes both very serious. Her life was orderly, in control, and she was finally settling down in one place so she could spend more time with her parents instead of moving all over the world every few weeks. To celebrate her and younger sister, Star’s, one year anniversary away from the circus they had grown up with, she and Star were meeting River Knight, their childhood friend and sister of the heart, for a vacation in the mountains in North Carolina.

Everything goes as planned until she and her sisters are kidnapped. Now, she finds herself transported to another world. Aliens, warships, battles, and a certain male were not in the carefully detailed plans she had mapped out for her life.

Manota Ja Kel Coradon is the second son of the ruling House of Kassis. He is known as the dark brother, a reputation that he lives up to. He has fought hard to protect his family and the people of Kassis, sometimes sacrificing parts of his soul to do so. His knowledge, skills, and development of weaponry are legendary. His skill as a warrior bring shivers of fear to his opponents who know he never gives mercy to any who stand in his way.

Manota is in total control of his world until one slender, feisty alien female crashes through the shields he has placed around his heart. She is fearless, determined and stubborn. She absolutely refuses to cower before him, no matter how much he growls! He is determined to protect her and claim her as his own but there is one little problem – she will not agree to accept his claim unless he returns for her parents.

Now, he has even bigger problems – that come in all different shapes, sizes, and species! The return trip is fraught with enough dangers but Jo and Star’s parents aren’t the only ones coming back to Kassis – so is the circus family who had gathered to help look for their missing family members.

Traitors, pirates, and Mimes are just the tip of the iceberg of trouble gliding through warp speed to his home world. Manota is about to learn that the prophesy that was foretold centuries before is true. His mate is just as much of a warrior as he is and she comes with backup when an old enemy attacks!

Mattie Abrams has always had a knack for training animals. Touring with the Cirque de Magik, she knows that she has finally found the ‘home’ she so desperately craves. She would do anything to keep her small family of circus friends and her pets, including going where they went. When the owner of the circus announces he is taking the circus to the stars, she never expects it to be quite so far – or so dangerous.

Jai t’Dubar never expected to find his mate among the menagerie of humans returning to his world. When a delicate beauty jogs by him, his world changes. His first thought is to chase her down and capture her. His second thought is to keep her forever.

When she is taken as a hostage by a group of space pirates who invade the Kassisan Warship, Seeker, he will do everything he can to save her.

Can he rescue Mattie from the pirates and traitors who threaten her before she is taken from him? And if he can, will he be able to convince her to open her heart to him and let him show her when he says ‘forever’, he means forever?

Excerpt

Ristéard Roald is the powerful and deadly ruler of Elpidios, a planet that is slowly dying without the blood stones needed to absorb the radiation gradually destroying its stratosphere. He has sworn to do whatever it takes to protect his world and his people, but time is running out.

Hope comes from an unexpected source, the Kassis. They have found a way to replicate the blood stones needed to save his world, but his first dealings with a traitorous Kassisan has left a deep distrust for the species.

Ricki Bailey is used to dealing with diplomats and handling complex situations. After all, as the daughter of the owners of Cirque de Magik, the most spectacular Circus to the Stars, she is used to organizing their trips to foreign countries. Her life changes when her mother and father decide to take the circus to the real stars… and to another star system!

If she thought learning new laws and customs was going to be a challenge, it was nothing to the sudden interest she was getting from a huge blue male known as the Grand Ruler! Ricki discovers words that she didn’t even realize were in her vocabulary, most of them not in the least polite.

She decides the best way to deal with the arrogant male is to treat him like she did when encountering difficult Consuls during the circus’ travels on Earth; stay cool, calm, and professional and only deal with the facts necessary to complete whatever business transaction was required.

Ristéard is stunned when a strange, alien female, foretold in the ancient tablets as being the great Empress who will save his world, appears. He is even more astonished when she refuses his attentions! With the life of his planet at stake, not to mention his own peace of mind and body, he will do whatever is necessary to ensure the female stays by his side.

Yet, there are forces working against him and Ricki, powerful forces that do not want him to be successful. Dangers and traitors among his own council threaten not only him, but her. It will take all of Ristéard’s resources, and a few unexpected allies, to complete the dangerous journey ahead of them.

Can he keep his unwilling Empress safe from those that would destroy her? Better yet, can he save his world when there are those that would destroy it for the treasure of precious blood stones hidden somewhere beneath its surface?

    • Leyene, I don’t have a release date yet for Risteard’s Unwilling Empress but it sure will be interesting to see how Ricki manages Risteard. I think she will give him a run for his money!

  • Hi Susan. I have just finished reading Jo’s Journey and I am starting on Rescuing Mattie. I really love your books. I am running out of all the series you write, to read. • Hi! Just finished Ristéard & Ricki’s story (loved it by the way! So excited for Jarman and Jane!) I noticed that you mentioned the alliance in a couple of your book series and I’m just wondering if it’s the same alliance. Like, do some of your book series share the same universe? Just curious!

    • Hi Lee. Thank you so much for you wonderful post and for your questions. Yes, just like our universe is connected to others, so do many of my series. You will actually get to see a glimpse of Jarmen (and a few others) in Dagger’s story which is set for release on March 31st.

    • Hi Rashmi. Jarmen and Jane’s story will be out possibly either the end of this year or the beginning of next. I don’t have a firm date yet. I’ll try to get caught up and post a list on my website within the next week.

  • I LOVE IT!!!!!! Read all of Lord of Kasis during the weekend. You are spectacular never stop writing!!! Cant wait for Jane and Jarman’s story. Thank you!!!!!

  • looking at the end of Jo’s story you have a list of characters matched up with each other – I hope you have a book on each match.

    • Yes there will be story for each of my characters. As you can see, I never run out of characters or ideas! lol

    • Jarmen and Jane’s story is on my short list. I really want to write their story as I want to know what is going to happen… Yes, I’m the author, but they are the ones sharing their story. LOL. So, I don’t have a release date yet, but I promise it will be within the next year.

  • I have enjoyed reading almost all of your books – however for some reason the Lords of Kassis series is not on the Barnes& Noble site for Nook. This is really frustrating – can you advise why?

As I said – have really enjoyed reading the other series and like all of the others who have commented – can’t wait for the next installment…but need to have them on Nook!

    • The Lords of Kassis series is temporarily only available on Amazon (I’m not excited about that at the moment). The good news is I’m hoping to have Jarmen’s Jane Doe completed by the time it is available on all vendors again! 🙂 Think two and months or less.

  • This is an amazing series it took me two days to read books 1-4 can’t wait for king’s story and also the doctor these books and the alliance books are the most read on my kindle

    • Thank you, Marla! Jarmen’s Jane Doe is the next story in this series. I’m currently writing Challenging Saber: The Alliance Book 4 and Jaguin’s Love: Dragon Lords of Valdier Book 8. Keep an eye out! I just finished a ‘flashfiction story’ that was supposed to be 500-1K words (think more like 14K). It will be appearing on Coastal Magic’s blog in the next few weeks.

  • I am looking for Jarmen’s Jane Doe. I have loved all of the sci-fi books of yours and am looking forward to more.

    • That one is coming up! 🙂 I can’t wait to sink my fingers into Jarmen and Jane’s world. I am really looking forward to it!

  • I have been really looking forward to Jarmen’s Jane Doe! Is there any set date yet for its release or maybe an approximate release time? I really do enjoy all of your work and can not wait until this one is ready! I’m pretty sure I have read all of your books so far but I will check the list just to make sure. Thank you for making my down time more enjoyable.

    • Hi Jennifer. I have several books ahead of Jarmen and Jane’s story. Expect a mid-summer release if all goes well. I’ll be updating my Coming Soon section this next week once I finish the story I’m working on. Then, I’ll feel like I’ve accomplished at least one thing!

      • I am completely in love with your books. ALL of the ones I have got my greedy hands on. I have yet to read the magic new mexico, second chance , spirt pass, or the Marastin Dow series yet. I love how the others connect and I am looking forward to see where it leads. I love John Paul, Luc, and the service bots and I enjoy how you added them in serval books. Looking forward to Jarmen and Jane story, I know I will love it.

I have three little girls ages 3months, 5 yr old , and a 6 yr old along with three more I sit Mon-Fri from 5am to 6pm ages 2,6, and 10. So I absolutely love nap and bed time. I must admit I get around 5 hours asleep because I cannot put your books down once I start. I switch between your books, R.E. Butler, M.K Eidem and Jordan Silver. Amazing women with incredible minds.

I LOVE SLIPPING INTO MY NEVERLAND EVERYTIME I PICK UP A BOOK. THANK YOU FOR KEEPING ME SANE!!!! 😆😙😊

        • Hi Britt. I know exactly what you mean. I have four kids of my own and I watched up to 13 additional kids (all their friends) while the parents worked, especially during the summer months. The house was always full and I savored the quiet times to escape into a different world. I love the two Frenchmen and the bots. I can’t wait to see them again in Jarmen and Jane’s story.

        • Hi Sam. Jarmen and Jane’s story will be out later this fall. It has been moved up due to all the requests! 🙂

  • I have yet to be able to find the Lord’s of Kassis series on either Overdrive or Hoopla for download with the exception of Risteards Unwilling Empress. Are they available for download in pdf form to read from anywhere?

  • I saw book 3 (Jo) on audible last night. No book 1(River) or 2(Star). Put 3 in my wishlist. Just check and it’s gone. What happened? Where is 1 and 2? Tell me they are all going to show up together. Please!!!!

    • LOL. Yes, I’m trying to find out from the distributor what is going on. Something tells me they had a uh-oh moment. I was looking for it as well. I’ll let you know as soon as I find out. 🙂 They are completed, I’m just waiting for them to become available.

    • Update: Found out today that Audible released Jo’s Journey when they weren’t supposed to and pulled it back down. River and Star will be released July 19th and Jo on August 2nd. 🙂

      • Thanks for the info! Have it marked on my calendar. (Although… I should have clicked the buy for book 3 instead of the wishlist button. It was tempting…)

        • Update: Book 1 and 2 is out on audible right now. I snapped it up in case it disappears. Book 3 is on preorder.

          • LOL. I know. They weren’t supposed to be released until the 19th! I was like, just close my mouth.

  • Why is rivers run not wispersynked for voice on audible ? the other two are. It makes it nice when you own the books on kindel all ready. Ow and my aunt Wanda said to tell you hi back, and to ask when the next book with indianna wild is to come out. You know I thunk I started something when I let her read one of your book’s she just got my aunt Betty to read abducting Abby . Again keep up the good work I kind of want to find a girl like the girls you write about only a little older (lol)

    • Give it time. Sometimes it runs behind in the Whispersync. I have no control over it, unfortunately, and only the powers that be understand how they decide when and if to put the book into Whispersync. I just shake my head and try to pin the tale with the blindfold on. Thank you again, and tell your Aunt Wanda I said hello back! (Waving Hi, Wanda!! Hugs!). I’m not sure when I’ll get to Maikoda’s story, but I’m thinking it will be next year. So far, things will be much quieter, unless I have to take two college classes, then you’ll hear a lot of screaming. Thank you again for your wonderful post! Bye, Betty; Bye, Wanda!

  • I love love love your books but I’m dying to know when jarmen Jane doe is coming out. I’m pretty sure I have almost all of your books just trying to see all the different sides and what not. But its killing me I gotta know.

    • LOL. I have a friend who has been chatting Jarmen. You’ll need a box of tissues for his and Jane’s book. It won’t be much longer. I do have a few stories ahead of it that I’m working on first.

        • Hi Nancie. Thank you so much for your post. I’m hoping to have Jarmen’s Jane Doe out later this year. It is definitely on my short list of books to write! You’ll get to see a cameo in Destin’s story.

  • Hi Susan! I loved all of your books..
You are a great writer. I am eagerly waiting for ajaska’s , Kev’s and k’tar story……. also will you write a story on Gunner and Audrey from dragon lord’s of valdier????!?

    • Hi Tanya, yes, yes, and yes. LOL. Jarmen’s book will be next in the series, though, but all the other character’s you mentioned will also have their stories. I really need to find a woman-cave to hide out in.
