Blurb:

Amelia ‘Runt’ Thomas’ life revolves around a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the most ruthless criminals in the world. She follows two codes: the code of hackers and her personal code of honor to bring down anyone who thinks they’re untouchable. She was on target until one fateful night when the touch of a strange man sends an unexpected shock wave through her. Now, the faint whispers in her head are growing louder and more annoying, distracting her from her mission.

Derik ‘Tag Krell Manok’s search for the mysterious woman who changed his life nearly two years before is finally over. As a Prime warrior from another world, he knew the moment he touched Amelia that she was his bond-mate—but she disappeared before he could whisk her away to safety. He is determined not to let that happen again, but he also knows that he needs to proceed with caution because Amelia is unlike any woman he has ever known before.

As their connection grows, so does Derik’s fear that he will be unable to keep Amelia safe from a man who is just as determined to find her and use her amazing talents for his own devious purposes. Find out what happens when an alien warrior, a determined AI named RITA, and a few other surprising twists come together to save a special woman named Runt!

Teaser/Excerpt:

Runt turned to gaze out the window again. She was silent for a few seconds, unsure whether she wanted to share what she was thinking and feeling—even with RITA. Her arms tightened around her waist.
“Nothing’s wrong. I’m just thinking,” she finally replied.
          “About Derik?” RITA inquired.
Runt could feel her face contort in distaste. She was not going to admit that she had been thinking about Derik ‘Tag Krell Manok! A shiver of unease ran through her. That was usually a sign that it was time to disappear.
The problem was doing it without RITA knowing. Cosmos Raines’ AI system, RITA, which stood for Really Intelligent Technical Assistant was as close to family as she had. It was that connection that made her reluctant to hurt RITA, even if she was only a computer program.
She’s more than binary code, Runt thought looking at the soft concern in RITA’s glowing eyes.
“I wish…,” she started to say before she shook her head and looked down at the floor.
“What do you wish, Amelia?” RITA asked.
Runt shook her head. “I’m going to go out for a bit. Now that Avery has been found and we know that Markham and Wright are dead, I don’t need to be here so much,” she stated, dropping her arms to her side and turning to grab her backpack off the floor near the chair and pulled it on her back.
          “Amelia…,” RITA started to protest.
Runt turned and looked at the holographic figure of the woman she had come to love. Her gaze followed RITA as the holographic image glided forward and lifted her hand to caress her cheek. She pulled back when RITA’s fingers passed through her. Sorrow and a sense of loneliness enveloped Runt. It has been so long since she’d felt the touch of another human that she almost forgot what it felt like. The last hug she’d had was from her mother.
“Oh, sweetheart,” RITA said with regret.
Runt shook her head. “I’ll be back later,” she murmured.
She turned away and headed for the door to her apartment. This was not her world. She belonged in the recesses of the underground world of the hackers—out on the streets where people talked and the shadows listened. A place among those that knew about the darkness—not in a castle in the sky.

I am so super excited to read Saving Runt! I love all of your books that I have read…Lords of Kassis, Dragon Lords of Valdier, Sarafin Warriors, The Alliance, and so on! Runt is one of my fav characters. Do you have a date for the audiobook? (love your narrators)

    • S.E. Smith says:

Hi Telzey. Thank you so much!! Runt is with the narrator so I’m hoping that it won’t take Samantha long to record and proof. She is also working on a few of the novellas that I have that are part of the Lords of Kassis series. I think I’m almost caught up on all my books into audiobooks finally!

I have loved all of Cosmo’s gateway. Just wanting for Saving Runt to come out on goggle play store. I hope you are feeling better soon. Is there a date that it will be out on goggle play store? And thank you for writing such great books

  • Sandra says:

Like many of your avid readers – I’m wondering if there is a date when Saving Runt will be available? I’ve read that you’ve been ill and needed to have some much deserved ‘me’ time to recover. Is your recovery still causing problems and thus delaying your awesome books being released? Do you have a fixed release date yet for the book and audio versions? Hoping you’re on the mend and you’re recovery is completed soonest:)

    • admin says:

Thank you. I do not have a release date yet for Saving Runt but I am continuing to write on it. I am sorry it is taking longer than I thought.

Thank you for the many freebies you send especially the dragonlings. I’ve just finished the Sampler Pets in Space 4 you kindly sent. Good afternoon Susan, Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I’ve pretty much have read every single book that you have written and have a majority of them on Audible as well. However, the only one I am missing is Saving Runt. I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find it. I’ts been in my Amazon shopping list since August, LOL. I’m hoping I’ll come across it soon… I have to say that you are an amazing writer and I have enjoyed every one of your books. Thank you for making it fun to read.

    • admin says:

Thank you so much Yessica!! I am still writing on Saving Runt. My health has not been so good and my writing is taking longer than usual as a result. The story is coming along good though and I will have it out to you soon.

  • Gemma says:

Hi Susan, Happy April loved receiving your newsletter today so excited to here saving Runt will be out towards end of April can’t wait. Happy writing 😁🖋

  • Jayne says:

Susan, thank you for your wonderful stories. I’ve read all that you have released and can be as impatient as all of your other readers to get the next and then the next. The fact that you have and are continuing so many story lines is amazing and I’m grateful. Saving Runt is out soon I hear, yeah! Then will it be Guarding Dahlia or another of your story lines?? I hope you are taking care of yourself and listening to your body (not just those characters in your head egging you on to write their story) love and best wishes Jayne

    • S.E. Smith says:

LOL. I told a friend that I was locking up the squirrel who was watching the cooking channel. We don’t even have TV/Cable!! The darn thing is finding YouTube videos. I’ve changed the title of Dalia’s story to Dalia’s Royal Guards. Shush… I’m hoping for a late December release if all goes well.

      • Jayne says:

Thanks for the update. Disappointed about Saving Runt delay but keeping watch patiently. Hope the delay isn’t due to your health – remember You are important listen to your body. Know that all the best for you and your family is wished for. Jayne

        • S.E. Smith says:

It is in part due to my health. I’m taking a working holiday. It was interesting that there was a speaker at Book Babes in Stoke that spoke about self-care. In his talk he went over the symptoms of burn out. The last one was chronic fatigue which is one thing I’ve been suffering from. It really struck me that I need to be more aware of my health.

  • Mlee says:

Can I ask how much longer is Saving Runt going to be?

I loved core’s attack. Can’t wait for saving runt to come out in the 🇬🇧

  • Olivia says:

thank you for the date approximations but i love all your books I know some people can be rude but I think its because they dont ask and since its such a wonderful series . We just can’t wait for the next book in the series.

    • S.E. Smith says:

LOL. Thank you, Olivia. I don’t take it as rude, I hate disappointing people. Runt’s story will be worth the wait. I being kinder to me and listening when my body (including my head) says take a break. Of course, that is when I come up with new stories as well. 🙂

  • Sandy says:

Is Runt and Core going to be released as Kindle ebooks?

  • Gemma says:

Hi is there any update for a release on kindle in the uk. Thanks

    • S.E. Smith says:

Hi Gemma, Thank you for posting a question. I’m running a little behind due to fracturing my ankle and hurricanes. I’m hoping to having Runt done by the end of December.

  • Mlee says:

I hope this one comes out on the right date. I took the day off for Core’s and now I’ve wasted a day for nothing. Not to mention I won’t be able to take off the 10th of July.

    • admin says:

Again, I apologize for the date change for Core’s Attack. I am grateful you are a long term reader of my books and I am sorry I have disappointed you. I am honestly doing the best I can to keep readers up to date when there are date changes to my books.

      • admin says:

Hi Mlee, I wanted to keep you up to date on what is going on. Over the last month I’ve been extremely tired. I’m pretty sure it is the heat and allergies as I have a sore throat and a cough that I can’t quite get rid of. I’ve been pushing myself to ignore it. While I was in Spokane it hit me hard when not one, but three people mentioned that I needed to be nicer to myself and listen to what my body has been telling me. I’m one of those that will go-go-go until I drop. Well, I’m stumbling at the moment.
So, long story short Dust and Core are going to be slightly late by a couple of weeks. One of the things I will never do is short-change a story for a deadline. I write as long as the characters talk. Dust is turning out to be an amazing story and nothing like I expected which makes it even more exciting. I know Core and Runt will do the same.
At the moment, I’m looking at releasing Dust now on July 10th and releasing both Core and Runt on July 31st. That may change depending on/if the exhaustion I’m feeling doesn’t pass. This time of year the heat, humidity and every blooming thing under the sun seems to have my name written all over it.
I hope you bear with me and aren’t too disappointed. I hate being late with anything and it drives me batty that my body is not listening to my head at the moment.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and thank you for being there as I work through this.
        Hugs,
Susan
