Choose your treasure carefully, thief…

Drago, King of the Isle of Dragons, is the last of the magnificent dragons of the Seven Kingdoms. Bitter and alone, he abandons the emptiness of his realm and retreats to the caverns beneath the palace. In the form of his dragon, he remains hidden from the world, protecting the Dragon’s Heart, the last legacy of his people – until he is disturbed by a most unlikely thief.

Carly Tate’s trip to Yachats State Park takes an unexpected turn when she is caught in a sudden storm. Seeking shelter, she stumbles through a magical doorway into a cavern filled with treasure! Yet, as incredible as the piles of glittering gold and jewels are, her gaze is transfixed by the slumbering form of a magnificent dragon.

Carly’s appearance begins a series of events that will not only change Drago’s life, but will affect all of the Seven Kingdoms. Can a centuries old dragon protect his most valuable treasure, or will the evil that destroyed his race take Carly from him as well?

Teaser/Excerpt:

“What is your name?” he asked with a sudden need to know.

“Carly… Carly Tate. What’s yours? Didn’t you change into a guy or was I dreaming that as well?” Carly asked.

“Carly… I like that name. I am Drago, King of the Dragons, ruler of the Isle of Dragons,” Drago responded.

“King.… Wow…. I’m loving this dream,” she grinned. Drago glanced down at her again when she released his claw and wiggled. He loosened his claws just enough to allow her to move. She rolled over onto her stomach and gazed down at the isle below them.

He was beginning to consider the possibility that she hadn’t come here for any devious reason at all, but how could it be that she had arrived here by accident, with no knowledge of where she was or who he was? Was that simply what she wanted him to believe until she stole the Dragon’s Heart? Was she an unwitting pawn that someone else had sent? Had he been meant to kill her or keep her? Who was she?

“What makes you think this is a dream?” he asked in a voice that hid his all-consuming curiosity about what she would say next. She released a sigh and laid her chin on his claw.

“It has to be. There are no such things as dragons, not real ones anyway – especially talking, shape-shifting, magical ones. Even if there were, which there aren’t, I hardly think they would be living undiscovered in Oregon,” she replied.

“I have never heard of the Isle of Oregon before,” Drago responded with a frown. “Which kingdom is it closest to?”

Yay, I really enjoyed reading this when it was short story and really wanted more to this story so woo-hoo to turning this into a longer novel, at least I believe this is your intent, I really hope so. Is there an estimated time in which you’re hoping to publish this book?

Hi Tanya. I’m almost done with Drago and Carly’s story. Not only that, I’m going to be writing all the stories out so they are finished and there will be two more that I didn’t release to finish out the series. I’m absolutely loving the stories!

Will this be coming in audio quickly following release?

    1. S.E. Smith says:

Hi Crystal! Yes. I’m releasing through a different distributor and it is already with the narrator who is in production! The drawback on the other releases has been the distributor’s scheduling.

Thanks for all the wonderful stories. Yours are one that I first read in ebook and then buy in PB when I can so I have something good to read when the electronics go zap.
