Teaser/Excerpt:

“You have to tell him,” Hussain said in a low voice, leaning across the table.

Katie looked longingly after the man who had just charged out of the tent. “I can’t,” she whispered.

“You are confusing him! He thinks you are a boy, but you wear your emotions on your sleeve. You see him as a man, and he can feel it,” Hussain said with a reproving expression.

She glared at Hussain. “How can I not see him as a man. I’ve seen every inch of him!” She lowered her voice. “What difference would it make?”

Hussain lifted an eyebrow at her. Katie flushed a pretty pink and sat back in her chair with her arms folded.

“I’m not having a fling with the King of Simdan. I don’t do things like that,” she tartly retorted.

“That is your right, but it is not the point. You must tell him. He does not want you to leave, and neither do you wish to leave. He plans to take care of you! To share his home with you! This secret cannot continue. You are a woman— How old are you?” he suddenly asked with an uneasy expression.

Katie rolled her eyes. “I’ll be twenty-two next Wednesday, and it doesn’t matter because I’m leaving! I have to. Already, Raja looks at me and I feel… I… he just can’t look at me like a woman. I promised my mom I wouldn’t screw up or screw around while I was over here. I didn’t do so well on the first promise, but I’m not about to break the second.”
