The King of the Giants has met his match…

When her brother goes missing, Ruth Hallbrook follows the only lead that she has – a story told to her by a strange woman who she meets in town. Armed with a ‘magical’ shell that will supposedly guide her, all she has to do is repeat the words she hears when she puts it to her ear. That would have been fine if she could have understood what it was saying! One wrong word lands her in a kingdom filled with giants, including one very large, irritating one who thinks she belongs in his gilded cage – fat chance of that!

An opportunity to escape for a little peace and quiet turns into a disaster when Koorgan finds himself stuck in an old well. Unable to climb out, his only hope of rescue comes from someone realizing that their king is missing. The last thing he expects is for his rescuer to be barely larger than his hand. Afraid that something might happen to the tiny creature, he feels duty bound to help her find her missing brother and return her to her world. The trouble is, the more time he spends with her, the less he wants to let her go.

Life is dangerous on the Isle of Giants for the diminutive Ruth. It will take every skill this King of the Giants possesses to protect her. Guided by the legend of a mythical plant said to have created the giants, Koorgan will not rest until he can find a way to keep Ruth by his side. Find out if love can overcome the barrier created by a misspoken spell!

Ruth decided that she totally needed her head examined as she focused on not falling on her butt along the uneven trail. She also thought of all the ways she could kill Mike. Behind her, she could hear Tanaka’s muffled footsteps. Knowing he was there was probably the biggest reason she didn’t turn tail and run back to the safety of her car.

She slowed as she stepped out of the thick line of trees that bordered the long, narrow cove where her brother was supposed to have last been. The moon was high in the sky tonight and the water glistened on the rough surf. A strange sense of peace settled over Ruth as she drew in a deep breath of the salty air.

“Oh, Mike, I miss you. I wish I was there with you,” she whispered, staring out at the ocean.

“Do you hear anything yet?” Asahi asked from behind her.

Ruth started with surprise, forgetting for a moment that Asahi was there. She lifted the red shell in front of her and stared down at it before she held it up to her ear. She shook her head and she lowered it back to her side.

“Not yet,” she said.

“We can walk down the beach,” he suggested.

“Yeah, but which way?” she asked, partially turning to look at him.

“Tracks were found heading north. We can try that,” he said.

“North, north….” Ruth muttered.

She frowned and looked both ways along the beach as she tried to remember her directions. She was hopeless without a GPS. Asahi pointed to the right.

“That way is north,” he said with a hint of amusement in his voice.

“Man invented GPS and compasses so that women did not have to learn how to find North and the men didn’t have to ask for directions,” she retorted.

“I did not know that,” he replied with a straight face, but his eyes glittered with humor.

LOL. Hi Zara. I want Ross and Ashure’s stories, but I also fell in love with Ruth, Mike’s sister. I’m finishing up Core’s Attack, then finishing Ruth which I’ve already started. I should have a firmer date in a couple of weeks for when I’ll be able to release her story. This series took me by surprise, but I absolutely love each story!
