Once upon a time in the not so distant future… or past… well, one of those… there lived a mighty mob of emus….
Yes, I can hear your brain screeching to a stop as you reread the introduction. The answer to your question is yes, large groups of emus are called mobs. Of course, that brings up all kinds of wonderful images in your head: The Boss emu ordering the unlikely demise of a poacher intent on capturing them, an army ready to do battle against the huge mob of emus (BTW, this really happened in 1932 in Australia – the winner: the emus!), or the emus coming to the rescue. Oh, just think of all the lovely stories that can be written for the mysterious and mighty bird that hatch from the eggs a little Dragonling carried home.
It is funny how some things just come to you. They often say right about something you know. Well, I’m no expert on emus, but it helps that we pass by a friend’s house that raises them. The stories Tom has told us about his attempts to raise emus for meat which quickly turned to them all having names and being pets has amused me for years. When I wrote The Dragonlings’ Very Special Valentine and The Great Easter Bunny Hunt, I knew I had to write Pearl’s story – and include the very unusual eggs that were brought back from Earth.
In Pearl’s Dragon, we get to meet the unlikely heroes who are as protective of their dragon friends as the dragons are of them. A clutch of eggs from Earth, a misunderstanding, love between an old dragon and his true mate, a couple of mischievous younglings, poachers, and a lesson in how to be the perfect mate come together in Pearl’s Dragon: Dragon Lords of Valdier.

Lieutenant Commander Ashton ‘Ash’ Haze has always embraced two things in his life: adventure and women. He gets more than he expects when he wakes on an alien planet after the experimental spaceship he and his companions are on is pulled through an ancient gateway they have been sent to explore. Now, his priorities have changed – or so he thought.
Kella Ta’Qui is a Turbinta – a race known for their skills as an assassin. Taken from her home as a child, she is trained in the deadly skills as a silent killer. Her first mission is to find and kill whatever was inside the unusual capsule that landed on the small planet of Tesla Terra. Her mission soon turns from one of predator to prey when she finds herself wounded after an encounter with her would-be target. Dazed and confused, she stumbles onto others that would sell her to the highest bidder. Despair turns to hope when an unexpected male suddenly appears and carries her to safety.
Ash’s skills from his wayward youth and his training in the Navy come in handy when he discovers a desert city, but nothing prepares him for the impact on his emotions when he comes across a wounded alien woman. His discovery that she knows where a fellow crew member might be, unwittingly thrusts them both into the middle of a civil war between two rival causes.
The fight has begun and the race is on to find the other members before the Legion does. Can an easy-going Navy pilot and an alien assassin work together to reach the location of one of the capsules in the cutthroat Turbintan planet, or will Ash find himself served up to the Legion for the highest number of credits? Whatever happens, the war has begun with the first awakening of the resistance – a resistance that Ash has volunteered to fight with.

Choose your treasure carefully, thief…
Drago, King of the Isle of Dragons, is the last of the magnificent dragons of the Seven Kingdoms. Bitter and alone, he abandons the emptiness of his realm and retreats to the caverns beneath the palace. In the form of his dragon, he remains hidden from the world, protecting the Dragon’s Heart, the last legacy of his people – until he is disturbed by a most unlikely thief.
Carly Tate’s trip to Yachats State Park takes an unexpected turn when she is caught in a sudden storm. Seeking shelter, she stumbles through a magical doorway into a cavern filled with treasure! Yet, as incredible as the piles of glittering gold and jewels are, her gaze is transfixed by the slumbering form of a magnificent dragon.
Carly’s appearance begins a series of events that will not only change Drago’s life, but will affect all of the Seven Kingdoms. Can a centuries old dragon protect his most valuable treasure, or will the evil that destroyed his race take Carly from him as well?
Destin Parks will do whatever it takes to rebuild the city he calls home, even if it means working with the new alien ambassador sent to oversee the project. His encounter with her predecessor left him hesitant to trust the alien diplomats assigned to Chicago’s rebuilding. The problem is – if he doesn’t work with them, they will try to replace him and that is not going to happen without a fight.
Jersula Ikera was assigned to Earth by the Alliance Council. The Council hopes her cool logic and calm demeanor will resolve the upheaval caused by the last ambassador. Jersula has fought hard for her position, and while not pleased with her current assignment as a liaison to the humans, she will do her best to help rebuild the world its inhabitants have destroyed. What she does not anticipate is her reaction to the hardheaded male that she has been assigned to. His ability to get under her skin and ignite a flame inside her leaves her confused and mystified.
Danger undermines Jersula’s efforts when she uncovers another alien cartel’s plans to traffic human women and children. A near fatal attack leaves her trusting no one except the one man who has sworn to protect them. Together, Destin and Jersula race to stop the traffickers before the women and children are taken off-planet. What they don’t realize is that the traffickers are not the only ones they are fighting against; the Waxian and Drethulan forces have targeted Earth.
Can Destin and Jersula stop the traffickers and prevent the deadly forces of the Waxians and Drethulans from destroying the progress they have made? Will the Alliance be able to protect Destin when the enemy discovers his connection to a powerful Alliance family? The battle for Earth has just turned personal.
